Apple Takes a Bite out of Blogger, Jason Chen’s Home Raided

By Shane Craver on April 27, 2010

Jason Chen, editor of popular gadget blog Gizmodo had his home raided by Silicon Valley’s Computer Crimes division.

Gizmodo and Chen managed to get their tech-loving paws on the yet-to-be-released version of the iPhone, dubbed iPhone 4.

The phone had allegedly been left behind in a California bar by an Apple employee who had been working on the device.

The search warrant that was used for the raid was issued on the grounds that the iPhone, “was used as the means of committing a felony [and] it tends to show that a felony has been committed or that a particular person has committed a felony.”

Apple, Inc., which is notorious for its secrecy and tightly controlled product releases reportedly sent a request to Gizmodo to return the phone and Gizmodo states that they complied with the request – after taking the phone apart.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation claims that the warrant was invalid as it violated laws that protect journalists.

Gizmodo seems to be remaining silent on the raid but has posted a photo collage titled, “63 Ways Steve Jobs Could Strike Back.”
